Novel Influenza A cases decline in Sri Lanka

During the period of last week no patients affected by Novel Influenza A/H1N1 have been treated at the IDH indicating a significant decline in the number of affected persons, IDH, Director Dr. Anura Senanayake said.
According to Dr. Senanayake since mid June this year the IDH has treated 100 confirmed Novel Influenza A/H1N1 patients. However at the moment there are no patients in the hospital. Only one person is waiting to be diagnosed. No patients were reported for a period of one week, Dr. Senanayake added.
Sri Lanka has successfully managed the Novel Influenza A/H1N1 epidemic when comparing with other countries and performed diagnosis speedily and free of charge, Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry sources said.
