T.R. Baalu to be given an honorary citizenship in Sri Lanka?

Local and foreign human rights organizations and civil society organizations have expressed their displeasure to the Central Indian government over the manner in which T.R. Baalu, who headed the delegation of Indian parliamentarians to Sri Lanka on a observation tour, handled the task assigned to him and his biased actions, Lanka News Web learns.

The delegation that arrived in the country on the 10th had commenced their tour by visiting Jaffna to witness the present situation in the area. They had then visited the Menik Farm camp in Vavuniya and Vavuniya District Secretary P.S.M. Charles had assisted them during their visit to the camp.

When returning from Menik Farm camp, several members of the delegation had requested Charles if she could make the necessary arrangements for them to visit vocations training centers and farms that are operated along with the camps. Charles had then inquired from her official seated in the front of the vehicle if the necessary arrangements could be made for the

delegation to visit the requested sites. An angry Baalu had however shouted at Charles in a threatening manner and said that as the head of the delegation he would decide on the sites to be visited and it was not the prerogative of the District Secretary.

During a meeting of social leaders held in Jaffna when the delegation visited the area, Baalu had also snapped at the Jaffna University Vice Chancellor who tired to pose a question to the Indian parliamentary delegation by saying he was aware of the question and the Vice Chancellor therefore should sit back on his seat and keep silent. Baalu’s dictatorial actions had been criticized by members who participated at the meeting.

Last October, T.R. Baalu handed his letter of resignation to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi claiming he would resign from all posts held by him if the Central Indian government did not intervene to stop the genocide of Tamil civilians by the Sri Lankan government.
Political analysts say that Baalu who was given an opportunity to witness for himself the situation in Sri Lanka one year after he claimed of genocide of Tamil civilians in Sri Lanka was acting bias towards the Sri Lankan government in order to safeguard his future business interests in the country.

T.R. Baalu is considered one of the most corrupt political figures in South Indian politics and his name was also featured in relation to the irregularities that took place in the Sethusamudram project. However, the caliber of this politician was clearly witnessed when he asked parliament to point out what was wrong in handing over gas quotas to two companies that belonged to two of his wives and sons when a question on the matter was posed to him in parliament.

It is therefore clear that Baalu’s actions in Sri Lanka is directly involved in scoring Brownie points with the President in order to receive state patronage in his future business endeavours in Sri Lanka.

A political analyst said the Sri Lankan government has fallen to such low depth that it is now dependent on Indian jokers such as the one mentioned above to receive approval on the country’s human rights situation.

Thalaikottai Raajuthevar Balu is a firm believer of numerology. He changed his name to Baalu following numerology.
