Deputy Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya to be removed

Several officials at the Presidential Secretariat have requested the President to remove Deputy Election Commissioner (Administration), Mahinda Deshapriya from all duties with immediate effect, sources from temple Trees said.
The officials have informed the President that
although Deshapriya worked in support of the governing party at the previous elections, there were doubts over his loyalties due to recent actions as he was related to General Sarath Fonseka.
“The General is our man. Therefore, don’t try to pull out the same games that you played during previous elections,” Deshapriya had reportedly told his staff at the Election Commissioner’s Department, according to Presidential Secretariat officials.
Deputy Election Commissioner (Administration), Mahinda Deshapriya is the brother of journalist Sunanda Deshapriya who has now fled the country following threats to his life.
