Southern Chief Minister and councilors sworn in

Southern Province Chief Minister Shan Wijelal Silva, Ministers of the Council Hemal Gunasekera from the Matara District, W.K. Indika from the Hambantota District, U.G. Dayawansa Ariyathileka from the Galle District, S. Viyaja Chandra Weerasinghe from the Communist Party in the Matara District and the rest of the councilors were sworn in before the President on Thursday (29).

Except for Galle District councilor Nishantha Mutuhettigama, the remaining 37 Alliance councilors were sworn in at the ceremony.

Chief Minister Shan Wijelal Silva is also the Minister for Finance, Planning, Justice and Peace, Transport, Water Supply and Drainage, Power, Engineering Work, Health,

	Local Medicine and Provincial Administration. SLFP Secretary, Minister Maithripala Sirisena had requested the councilors to appoint Mohan Silva as the Chairman and Wijaya Dahanayake as the Vice Chairman of the Council at the first session. The Alliance has also decided to appoint D.D. Upul as the Leader of the House and Justin Galappatti as the Chief Government Whip.
