60th anniversary celebrations of the Sri Lanka Army begins at Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura
The Sri Lanka Army has begun its 60th anniversary celebrations be blessing Army flags at a ceremony held in front of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura today. Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya participated at the ceremony held under the leadership of Maha Sanga headed by Atamasthanadhipathi Venerable Pallegama Siriniwasa Thera.
The President will declare open a special Army exhibition to commemorate the event which will be conducted from the 3rd to 7th of this month. The exhibition is open to the general public to 10.00 am to 10.00 pm each day. However, the exhibition will be opened for the general public after 12.30 tomorrow.
Special award presentation ceremony will be conducted for the Army Commander on the 10th and for Chief of Staff on the 12th of this month.
“A Priksum Pahan Sandarshanaya” will be conducted from the 17th to the 23rd of this month at the Keththarama Stadium.
Army Spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara says special programmes are being conducted to establish the security of all who attend the ceremonies.
