The President had telephoned drama producer Dharmasiri Bandaranayake yesterday (29) to inquire about the alleged threats made by common candidate at the Presidential election General Sarath Fonseka against his drama, “The Dictator,” senior officials from Temple Trees told .

The President had agreed to provide security to Bandaranayke if he was threatened by the General and the venue of the drama when it is being staged.

The President has meanwhile ordered Mahinda Illeperuma from the President’s Media Unit to give wide publicity to the story in order to create dissention among


artists against the General.

Accordingly, Dinamina Editor, Mahinda Abeysundera has written an article under the headline, “A dictator threatens The Dictator drama.”

Several attempts to contact either Bandaranayake or General Fonseka for more details on the issue failed.
