Attempt to arrest the General in the US
A senior official from the Sri Lankan embassy in Washington told Lanka News Web that there is an attempt to arrest Chief of Defence Staff General Sarath Fonseka who is currently on a personal visit to the US and the General is scheduled to meet with officials from the US Immigration and Emigration Department on Wednesday.
The official said the General is to be questioned on the war carried out against the LTTE and Sri Lankan ambassador to the US, Jaliya Wickremasuriya has assigned several legal experts to assist the General.
A senior UNP parliamentarian who commented on the matter said it was suspicious that Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa who was
recently in the US was not subjected to such obstacles while the General has now been subjected to an interrogation.
