A 48-year-old man has been arrested on charges of attempting to rape a six-year old girl in the city, police saidThe man took the girl, who was playing in front of his house, to the bathroom and tried to rape her last night, police said.

As the girl started screaming, people rescued the girl and handed the man over to police who registered a case of attempt to rape.Later he was produced before a court which remanded him to judicial custody, police said.
