The President is reportedly considering the possibility of scoring some points by punishing Minister Mervyn Silva. A close confidant of Mervyn Silva has said the President has reached an agreement with Mervyn to remove him from his ministerial portfolio until the conclusion of the Presidential election.

In order to launch the “scoring points operation,” the President has asked Mervyn Silva to create a brawl by attacking a Sirasa journalist. Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena is to then announce at his weekly press briefing on Thursday (12) morning that Minister Mervyn Silva who attacked the Sirasa journalist has been removed from his portfolio.

The next step is to get several articles and editorials published in the media praising the President’s decision to sack Minister Mervyn Silva and it is learnt that Editor of the Desathiya newspaper, Wasanthapriya Ramanayake has already taken steps to type an article on the lines to be published in the Lankadeepa newspaper on Friday (13).
