Former President Chandrika Kumaratunge had spoken to US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to know the stance of the US government in relation to moves by the US government to interrogate Chief of Defence Staff General Sarath Fonseka, a senior official from the Opposition Leader’s Office told Lanka News Web.

The former President who is currently on a personal visit to Paris had made the telephone call this morning.

Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe who is currently in Polonnaruwa had made a telephone call to former US


ambassador to Sri Lanka Robert Blake.

During the discussion it had been said that the General would be subjected to routine questioning and there was no intention to detain him.
