Major General Mahesh Senanayake who served as the Special Operations Director at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff during the tenure of former Chief of Defence Staff General Sarath Fonseka has been transferred with immediate effect on a directive issued by the Defence Secretary as the Commanding Officer of the 52nd Brigade in Jaffna, sources from the Army Headquarters said.

A member of the Special Forces, Major General Mahesh Senanayake served as the Director of Planning during the war against the LTTE.
