Opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe is scheduled to travel to India soon after the conclusion of the UNP convention on the 5th following a special invitation received by the Indian government.

The common candidate General Sarath Fonseka visited India on the 2nd also on a special invitation extended to him by the Indian government.

Diplomatic sources said the Indian government was confused over the political developments in Sri Lanka and is expected to seek an assurance from the Opposition Leader about the General and his policies.
