Parliamentarian Indika Bandaranayake, who spoke against the candidature of General Sarath Fonseka as the common candidate at the UNP Working Committee, has requested for an appointment to meet with General Fonseka, sources from Sirikotha said.

The other members who spoke against General Fonseka at the Working Committee, Johnston Fernando and Azath Saaly, organized a press conference to explain their stance on backing the General. Indika however, did not attend the press conference.

SLFP electoral organizers in the Kurunegala District have already objected to the President’s move to appoint Johnston and Indika as SLFP organizers to the Kurunegala District.
