James Cameron returns after more than a decade with Avatar in 3D. Remember Cameron’s Titanic holds the world record for the highest grossing film of all times!

In Tamil Nadu, Cameron’sTitanic is the highest collecting Hollywood film of all times. A record that could not be beaten by the new special effects laden 2012, which has now become the second highest grossing English film in the state.

Meanwhile the buzz is that Avatar and its Tamil version by the same name will break Titanic record! The trade pundits in Chennai are betting big on Avatar, as they feel it has great potential in the state, where films with special effects like the recent 2012, has done extraordinary business.

Please note Avatar at time of reporting is releasing in 3D at Sathyam Cinemas and Inox in Chennai, Central complex in Coimbatore and three other centers in other parts of Tamil Nadu. Avatar in 2D is releasing in over 100 screens in Tamil Nadu.

A spokesperson of a leading multiplex in Chennai said: “Avatarin 3-D is going to change the way we watch movies. Already Hollywood films in 3-D screened this year likeIce Age 3, Journey to center of the Earth have done decent business. Avatarwill open the floodgates as in 2010 Hollywood is coming out with 10 films in 3-D, laden with effects in different genres that will catch the attention of viewers across the world and soon Bollywood too will take up the technology”
