Sources from Temple Trees say the Presidential Security Division (PSD) is facing an imminent split due to the actions of ASP Thilekaratne, who is said to be acting on the powers of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapksa.

The respective ASP had been promoted to an SP during the field promotions made last month and has now been promoted to the post of SSP.

Sources said the respective officer used eight vehicles of the PSD and enjoyed more benefits than even the IGP. He had also been in-charge of the government poster campaign during the last provincial council elections and attacks

carried out against groups and individuals opposing the government.
