Colombo: Sri Lanka Navy Commander Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe met with the representatives of fishing societies in the Eastern Trincomalee District recently to discuss the measures to improve their trade.

A large number of representatives from various fisheries societies in the Trincomalee District discussed the welfare measures extended towards the fishing community and ways of further improving those to uplift their livelihood with the Navy Commander at the meeting.

The society members have expressed their gratitude to the Navy for taking measures to ensure their professional welfare and safety.
